2024-2100: Foundations of Change
- 2057: An international agreement known as the Great Climate Accord is reached to combat climate change, with ambitious goals for reducing carbon emissions, transitioning to renewable energy, and preserving biodiversity.
- 2060: The development and deployment of advanced green technologies, including carbon capture and sustainable agriculture accelerates. This marks the beginning of a major shift towards environmental sustainability.
- 2068: The first commercially viable fusion reactor is developed, providing a nearly limitless and clean energy source. This technological leap greatly reduces humanity's reliance on fossil fuels.
- 2075: Massive efforts in the great ocean restoration project are made to restore damaged marine ecosystems and halt the acidification of oceans, leading to the gradual recovery of marine biodiversity.
- 2100: Despite significant progress, the late 21st century sees a severe environmental collapse due to previous delays in action and unexpected consequences. Only half of Earth's surface remains viable for human habitation.
- 2120: The United Planet successfully establishes the first permanent base on Mars, "New Horizon," to conduct research and prepare for future colonization.
- 2195: Revolutionary hard-light technology is developed, allowing the creation of highly flexible and durable holographic interfaces and structures.
- 2224: The first Hybrids are created.
- 2247: The Elheen became the First Contact with an alien species for humanity.
- 2250: An asteroid collision destroys Tellus' moon, causing widespread panic and a significant impact on tidal forces and satellite operations.
- 2275: The Tellurian Space Academy is established as a prestigious institution for training future generations of space explorers and researchers.
- 2289: Genetic eugenics is banned.
- 2350: Advances in cryosleep technology enable long-duration space travel, allowing crew members to remain in stasis during extended missions beyond the solar system.
- 2389: Mechs are classified as a species.
- 2400: New biomechanical technologies are introduced, allowing for advanced integration of human and machine capabilities, improving both medical treatments and operational efficiency.
- 2439: The Hybrid Liberation Act is passed.
- 2427: A stable wormhole is discovered leading to the Andromeda Galaxy, opening new avenues for exploration and colonization.
- 2464: The Mnemosyne embarks on its historic mission to explore galaxies beyond the Milky Way, carrying a crew of 300 and 100,000 settlers in cryosleep.

I'm thinking operations, admin crew for him! Despite having the coding background that would fit engineering, it would be apart of him clawing his way up the chain. Middle management baybeyyyy! I did note somewhere in the game something about being locked to roles? Do you know if that would mean he wouldn't be able to assist in engineering tasks despite there being very few engineering crew?
no subject
He can absolutely help with Engineering! He just can't switch over to being part of Engineering, with all the access and everything that that role grant him, if that makes sense. Everyone works any jobs they can and everyone asks other departments for help (when they're talking to each other).
Jack should come join Operations! I play Wolfwood here, who right now is kinda loving having the whole department to himself, so he'll be pissed as fuck when somebody's around all the time being nosy about his pet projects. (Current pet project: strapping an EMP to a maintenance drone, just in case he needs to fry the ship's AI sometime in the future.)

That would make perfect sense. and wheeze when they're talking to each other, already been drama, huh?
HAHAH yes! I would love that, though tbh, Jack'd be in full support of that particular pet project. It's just the type of high chaos and mutiny he adores. But I can't imagine Wolfwood would like having someone poke their nose in and decide they have Authorization to tell him no. It doesn't matter if Jack doesn't have the authorization, he's gonna do it anyways.

ICly everyone's currently in a bit of a cold war with the ship's AI over access and permissions to both their own division's command systems as well as the need for redundancy in literally all of the ship divisions - informally there's a lot of cross-division work, since it's such a matter of survival.
For example Rin's lent a hand to Vash with some of the power systems requirements already, when they made a planet stop basically everyone got pulled in to do some sampling, etc.

The need for redundancy? I'm not sure I follow unfortunately... That said the permissions over their own commands sounds like a Problem That Needs Handled lmao. But it does sound like the perfect blend for people just saying HOLD ON I GOT THIS MOVE OVER.
no subject
oh mb! I meant like, because a lot of divisions only have one person everyone's ICly worried about what happens if someone can't do the work for some reason (like Wolfwood who went and got himself thrown in the brig for a while for trying to kill the Captain).
