RE: shady bastard, I put in Bertholdt's backstory that he consented to radical trials in order to pay for his Academy training - perhaps some of them were ones Hilbert ran? I specifically noted he has side effects from said trials in his adrenal/nervous system; maybe he was aware they weren't fully on the level, so he's never sought treatment in order to keep people from questioning how it happened.

Side note: I had no idea this is part of what Wolf 359 was about and now I kinda wanna give it a go! :D
